Law of Attraction - How to Raise Your Positive Thoughts When You Feel Negative Emotions

In my coaching practice I work a lot with the Law of Attraction. Many times I have clients ask me, "What do you do when you really have negative emotions about something? They get in the way of the Law of Attraction but I really am sometimes very upset. It is hard to put emotions aside and 'put on a smiley face.'" It sure is and that is not what the Law of Attraction is all about. You have to pay attention to your emotions. They are telling you something very important. Employing the Law of Attraction does not mean that you ignore your emotions. It means you work with and through them until you can get into a better, more positive space.

Let's say you are genuinely angry with your mother-in-law because she always tells you how to discipline your children. It makes you feel like she thinks you are a bad parent. She acts like she knows everything and you know nothing and you feel belittled by her behavior. Your feelings are hurt and you are angry. You have just learned that she is coming for a 10 day visit. Yikes! You want to pack your bags and go on vacation.

You are wondering how you can survive and how you can get into a better emotional state over this situation. The thing to do is to slowly work yourself up into higher positive states gradually. It might say a series of statements like this:
She is always critical and I feel very angry about it.
 Well, she's not always critical. I can think of a few times when she actually praised me for the children's good manners.
 She is a lonely person and has no one to talk to at home. It is like she just says whatever comes to mind.
 She does come from a different time when children were more strictly controlled. I guess she just isn't use to hearing children argue with adults.
 I guess that would be a little confusing to her and I suppose she doesn't hear it very often except at our house.
 Maybe I should engage her in some conversation so she will think about other things than my discipline techniques.
 I guess I can deal with that and when I feel out-of-sorts I will just go to my room for some quiet reading time.

As you can see, the process moves up the positive scale a little at a time until you get to the place where you think you can handle the situation. By moving to a more positive place you are sending more positive energy into the Universe. You never know how that will affect the situation. I have seen some amazing things happen to turn the entire scenario around.
